Kevin and Jen have one of the best, most romantic "how we met" stories I've ever heard. They met through a mutual friend--the maid of honor--at her wedding. They were both in the wedding party, and were actually paired up as bridesmaid and groomsman to walk down the aisle together. That fateful day, they got to know each other, danced the night away, and--so it is rumored--may have even shared a kiss at some point!
The wedding was originally scheduled for November 2017. The morning of October 9, the Tubbs fire (the costliest wildfire in US history) raced through Santa Rosa, destroying over 5,000 structures, including the home the bride and her family occupied, forcing the postponing of the wedding. The bridal dress also barely escaped the fire--the dressmaker lost her home and only escaped with the dress and a few other belongings.
Wildfire, destructive as it is, brings renewal and new growth; some species depend on this. The blackened hills of Sonoma County are already flush with new green growth, as Kevin and Jen have begun a new exciting journey and grown their lives and family together.
Their entire wedding took place at the scenic Hyatt Carmel Highlands, overlooking the Pacific and rocky oceanic outcroppings, with a picturesque orange and pink sunset lingering in the background as the perfect backdrop to this wonderful wedding.
They are very fitting for each other, being two people who are so very in love but also full of love for others. This was very evident in the way they took care of each other and their treasured guests throughout the day, making sure everyone was taken care of and having a good time.
