Six glorious years ago, Tim met Maeve through their small group at Mercy Church in San Luis Obispo (the best church in the world). Their mutual love of Jesus and all things Mercy Church has been a constant theme in their relationship. It's something that helped them meet, as well as helping them develop and grow in their personal lives as well as to have a deep, intentional, purposeful friendship-turned-romantic relationship.
About a year into their friendship, Maeve began to have feelings for Tim, but hid those feelings away and didn't tell anyone. Not because she was ashamed, but she knew that she wanted to wait to see if Tim felt the same way. After returning from a summer in Spain, Maeve and Tim were teamed up to do outreach for the church's GLO club at Cal Poly. They were both involved in che club and still attending Cal Poly at the time. During this time, they developed their friendship, and Tim started to like Maeve.
They struck up a friendship, and she helped him get through Cal Poly and graduate, even though she had already graduated (despite being younger).
Tim took a long time to ask out Maeve; it took four months of hanging out spending time together. They were both being very intentional with the relationship and wanted to make sure they were right for each other. In each and every stage of their relationship, they were in constant prayer and preparation, readying themselves and their hearts for the next stage.
Tim proposed to Maeve at her old apartment complex, which sounds super un-romantic, but it's a beautiful complex where he used to pause under the light of one of the streetlamps, remark on how romantic the light looked, and steal a kiss. He sang to her and proposed to her under that lamp, and the rest is history.
